Things and Areas to Be Checked Before Getting Waterproofing Done

Waterproofing is something that should not be missed at any cost, as you get your new home constructed. However, before calling, it would be useful for you to go through this checklist and make sure that the following problems don’t cause any issues related to waterproofing.

Gutters

• Make sure that all the gutters are inspected and cleaned thoroughly because over time, even the best of roofing drainage systems can get blocked.
• This is one of the biggest reasons behind leakages occurring inside the property.
• Therefore, this system should be checked and you should remove any leaves, debris or twigs from all the gutters and downspouts.

Foundation

• The next very important thing to check is the foundation and you should inspect the slope of the soil and grounds around your foundation.
• You need to see that the water runs down and away from the house for at least a distance of 48" to 60".
• This is really important because if it will not get away, it’ll start pooling up for sure to cause situations like leakages.

Leaks

• Before starting the process of waterproofing bathroom, make sure that you check under your sinks, toilets, etc. for leaky valves or faucets.
• For this, flash light should be used as in some cases, leaks could be very minor to detect in these areas that are darker than usual.
